Darren Fletcher has not managed to step it up since the arrival of Louis van Gaal and now the 30 year old Scottish midfielder is rumored to be on his way of joining West Ham United on a 3 and half year long deal where he would be earning around €75,000 each week.
Even though Fletcher is not a regular player for Louis van Gaal, the Dutch coach has stated that he remains being an important figure for the entire team and it will be a loss for the club but it’s something that happens in football: ‘’He’s my third captain so he is an important guy in the dressing room. I like him as a human being and a player. We shall miss him. But he has not played many times. That is the main goal of a player and we have talked about that and he preferred to play therefore we have helped him.’’ Louis van Gaal said.
A few months ago during the start of the season when Wayne Rooney was named as the captain of Manchester United, Darren Fletcher became the vice-captain of the squad but his playing time in the club has seriously dropped and now the player is believed to be looking around for a possible team that he can join in order to get more time on the pitch.
Fletcher’s contract with Manchester United expires in the summer and it doesn’t seem like his current situation in the Premier League club will change anytime soon as Louis van Gaal prefers using other players in his main team which are younger and have been contributing to the team.
The Scottish midfielder is the longest serving Manchester United player currently in the team and fans will not be happy to see him go in this way but it might happen.
If Fletcher doesn’t leave Old Trafford in January, then his summer exit a huge possibility.
